
24/72 Campaign
To improve outcomes in AML we must ensure more patients are referred to specialists centres FASTER and rapidly assessed to receive the RIGHT treatment.
We aim to do this through the Action AML 24/72 Campaign.

Action AML 24
All newly presenting patients with symptoms suspicious of AML, including one of the following:
-
High white cell count
-
Signs of infection (including fever)
-
Active bleeding
Must be seen by an AML specialist from one of the identified referral centres within 24 hours of initial presentation
TREAT AS MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Action AML 72
All patients with a previous diagnosis of AML, in remission or on active treatment, presenting with symptoms suspicious of disease relapse, including one of the following:

High white cell count
-
Signs of infection (including fever)
-
Active bleeding
Must be referred to an AML specialist from one of the identified referral centres within 72 hours of initial presentation

Wherever possible, patients should be advised and included in the referral decision process, but this should not be delayed until a scheduled clinical appointment if outside the 72 hour window

Medical professionals should seek urgent advice from a specialist referral centre regarding scheduling the appropriate medical assessments to identify edibility for active clinical trials within the 72 hour window
